Homeownership Application Process

Renovated Affordable Homes

Upcoming Open Houses

Potential homebuyers are selected through a lottery process administered by New York City's Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) and Restored Homes. Selected applicants will be notified in writing and invited for an interview. Please be prepared to supply financial information and other documents necessary to qualify for a mortgage loan.

In order to purchase a home, all applicants will have to meet certain income and asset restrictions as indicated in Restored Homes' applications. Buyers in select preference categories are given the first opportunities to purchase (categories may vary depending on program).

Restored Homes works with community based organizations to qualify potential income-eligible homebuyers, and guide them through the mortgage loan approval process and helping them identify sources of financial assistance. Once qualified, Restored Homes and its Community Partners provide the required homeownership counseling and training to prepare homebuyers for homeownership.

Interested applicants who meet the threshold criteria in the application and who are selected in the lottery process will be given the opportunity to purchase homes. If the lottery is exhausted and a homebuyer has not been selected, Restored Homes will sell available homes through a separate open market application process.

All homes renovated by Restored Homes are rehabilitated in compliance with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development standards, and with all federal, state and local laws, statutes, ordinances, regulations and requirements.

If you have any questions about the application process, please email:

Renovated Affordable Homes

Thank you for your interest in purchasing a home through Restoring Urban Neighborhoods’ REO Program. Due to the success of the REO Program, there are no homes available for purchase at this time. If you are still interested in purchasing a home, please join our mailing list at the top of this page to receive updates about our upcoming homeownership opportunities. When a homeownership opportunity is announced, this page will be updated with the new homebuyer application, which will include the program requirements and qualifications, as well as a list of available properties and a map of their locations. At that time, if you are interested in being qualified to determine your eligibility to purchase one of the available homes, it will be necessary to submit a new homebuyer application.
